Exploding onto the Fringe for the first time, this almighty band of slightly scary Spice Girls couldn't give two hoots about being graceful or ladylike, whatever the hell that means, and launch into their sketch show with astronomical (and vaguely psychotic) va va voom.
The girls start as they mean to go on, with no heed for prissies. Their physical and musical sketches brutally attack all things nice, especially spanning all that is potentially unsexy about sex: S.T.Is, genital examination, spunk, tampons, beastiality, cottaging, dogging, etc, etc. With no such thing as 'too far' - you name it, they go there and, forgiving of the slow start, we are thoroughly tickled. The candid Kitten Killers are cringingly filthy at times, with jokes that evoke audible gasps or "Oh God!"s rather than blurts of hysterics. However, the perils of sex aside, when the girls are feeling really really naughty, they surprise us with a slick bit of punnery and a rap about stationery. Fair play!
Like with marmite, this style of comedy won't be to everyone's taste. You might find the gurning and Jim Carrey style lunacy a bit much. There are a few marginally eggy silences between scenes and overcooked punchlines, but with a smooth-over and a calming cup of camomile tea, this loud-mouthed comedy show will glide breezily into the next fringe... and the one after that... and the one after that...
